Are the internal speakers muted when external devices are connected via the Toslink/optical socket?
No, the digital radio's internal speakers remain active even if external devices such as speakers, soundbars or AV receivers are connected via the digital optical/Toslink socket.
To play the sound exclusively via the connected devices, set the volume on the radio to zero. This mutes the sound from the internal speakers while the external devices play the sound.
