Connected, but not overwhelmed
“People want more guidance when it comes to technology. Connected products should make life easier, not more complicated.”
(Bastian Strommer, Senior Head of Product Portfolio Management for Consumer Electronics at Hama)
Never before have so many devices been connected to one another as they are today. Smartphones, smartwatches, smart homes, and health trackers are a constant part of our daily lives. Figures from the Hama smart home ecosystem show just how naturally connected technologies are now used: 1.8 million devices have already been set up, around one million of them are used regularly, and over 1.1 million users are registered.
At the same time, many people are increasingly feeling like they’re losing track of things. The challenge, therefore, is not to provide as many features as possible. The key question is how technology can take the strain off people and make everyday life easier.
For Hama, this development is at the heart of its 2026 IFA presentation under the “Connect” theme: “Connected to make your life easier.”
Connectivity Must Become Simpler
Expectations for modern technology are changing. Users are looking for solutions that provide information without demanding additional attention. At the same time, technology should function as seamlessly as possible and integrate flexibly into everyday life.
That’s why Hama focuses on products that can be easily integrated into existing tech environments and effectively complement existing systems. In the smart home, three out of four products already support the Matter standard for brand-independent networking of various devices.
User behavior also shows that this approach meets people’s needs: In the Hama Home app alone, around 30,000 new devices are set up each month—and as many as 50,000 during the winter. At the same time, many users are expanding their smart homes step by step. While around 500,000 users currently use a single device, more than 235,000 users already use two devices and over 150,000 users use three devices within their system.
Health Is Becoming an Everyday Topic
When it comes to personal health, there is also a growing demand for solutions that highlight connections and make decision-making easier. Under the banner of “longevity,” more and more people are focusing on how to maintain their health over the long term—not just when symptoms arise.
The new “Ring One” smart ring taps into this trend. It continuously tracks heart rate, sleep, and activity data without the need for a constantly visible display. The technology takes a back seat, helping people live their daily lives more mindfully.
Artificial Intelligence Is Becoming More Personal
At the same time, connectivity is increasingly moving toward personalized experiences. With its new AI-enabled headphones and the Bragi Sound app, Hama demonstrates how artificial intelligence can go beyond traditional audio functions. The app automatically adapts sound profiles to individual listening habits and offers additional features such as live translation and a built-in chat AI.
Safety, Freedom, and Guidance
Personalization is just one facet of a larger trend: connected technology is designed to create more freedom in everyday life. The best example: everyday family life. Parents are looking for ways to give their children more independence while still remaining reachable.
With its new children’s smartwatch, Hama addresses this balancing act. Video and voice calls, live location tracking, and safety features enable communication without requiring children to have a smartphone just yet.
The new “Vertex” outdoor smartwatch takes a similar approach: navigation, offline maps, and long battery life help people focus on their experience while still staying oriented at all times.
The new products showcased here demonstrate how connectivity is increasingly evolving from a technical feature into an everyday helper. Hama will provide detailed information on the featured products in the coming weeks.
